Job Description
The responsibilities of the Manager, Actuarial Services are to ensure that all actuarial work meets the highest standards of quality, proactively managing and retrospectively tracking the risk positions within ChenMed as well as supporting the strategic goals of the company. Oversees technical and analytical support functions to help the department and the company meets its goals. Works with leadership in different departments within ChenMed to provide analytics supported by actuarial modeling.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops, manages and enhances the monthly IBNR processes at granular levels.
  • Uses mathematical modelling techniques and statistical concepts to determine probability and assess risks to price Medicare services.
  • Manages monthly revenue cycle and annual revenue forecast.
  • Constructs probability tables to forecast risk and liability.
  • Develops and maintains medical cost model to identify cost saving opportunities.
  • Initiates and directs complex cross-functional projects.
  • Provides excellent services in the areas of pricing, forecasting, benefits design, payer relations/contracting.
  • Supervises actuarial analysts to ensure that the goals are achieved in a timely manner.  Distributes assignments and conducts performance reviews/check-ins regularly.

Performs other duties as assigned and modified at manager’s discretion.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Strong software skills in Visual Basic, SQL and SAS
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills
  • May be required to travel locally, regionally and nationwide up to 10% of the time
  • Spoken and written fluency in English
  • Experience leading small to mid-sized team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, plus a variety of other word-processing, spreadsheet, database, e-mail and presentation software
  • Ability and willingness to travel locally, regionally and nationwide up to 30% of the time
  • Spoken and written fluency in English
  • This job requires use and exercise of independent judgment

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE CRITERIA:

  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, economics, statistics or finance is preferred; equivalent experience may substitute for degree on a year-for-year basis above the minimum required
  • ASA with progression to FSA, FSA, or career ASA designation
  • Five (5) or more years’ experience; experience in Medicare Advantage is preferred
