Job Description
The Market Physician Recruiter is responsible for managing the full life cycle of the Physician recruitment process and hiring activities. He/she will assist departments and hiring teams via developing, coordinating, implementing and directing effective recruitment strategies to meet current and future staffing needs. The Market Physician Recruiter will also partner with hiring Leaders (Market Medical Directors) to ensure that quality primary care physicians, specialists, and nurse practitioner candidates are sourced, matched appropriately, and hired based on qualifications and corporate cultural fit. The Market Physician Recruiter will support the Market Medical Director in maintaining an appropriate Work Force Plan for his/her market, and will manage the overall process of ensuring Market Medical Directors are active in sourcing activities at the market and, as required, national level (e.g. residency programs, conferences, community events).


  • Will proactively recruit up to 20 REQs at any given time.
  • Understanding of market-specific Physician employment climate to attract and retain top clinical talent.
  • Strong understanding and customization of recruitment best practices.
  • Hands on recruitment experience (individual contributor role as well as management).
  • Manage staffing expectations, defining project management process, advertising and establishing recruitment process and KPIs.
  • Participates in strategic planning and provide support for designing centrally executed staffing and recruitment processes.
  • Develops benchmarks to assess outcomes (employment metrics). Compile and analyze costs and develop a "Cost per Hire" and other relevant metrics. Track metrics monthly to optimize number of clinical recruits.
  • Develops a mechanism to monitor cost influences and factors by Job Requisition.
  • Establishes and oversee a Residency Program Initiation / Program Relationships to develop, document and oversee best practices.
  • Develops and implement Market-specific plans to increase post-Residency Program physician recruits with defined targets.
  • Co-Leads Market specific Recruiting Task Force initiatives to evaluate and recommend improvements for recruiting initiatives market-wide, to include system enhancements, maximization of marketing and branding initiatives.
  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures.  
  • Assists in the creation and delivery of programs and strategies that enhance the professional development of Market personnel/internal clients involved in recruiting.
  • Develops thorough job orders for each physician recruitment opportunity.
  • Makes initial contact with physician candidates.  Complete interview form and Physician Profile form. 
  • Coordinates the recruitment efforts in the development, identification and placement of qualified physicians.
  • Coordinates physician interviews and site visits – oversee travel, accommodations, and itinerary, participate in community tours, coordinate meals, information packets for the candidate and real estate/community tours.
  • Conducts candidate reference checks.
  • Manages offer negotiation and execution.  Work with central support (Recruiting COE, Legal, Onboarding, Credentialing, Physician Education and Orientation) and Market Leaders to ensure successful start for new providers
  • Other duties as assigned and modified at manager’s discretion.


  • Must possess excellent communication skills with a professional attitude to establish and maintain relationships with physicians and their families, other physician recruiters, vendors, administrative, leadership, and other staff. 
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills including the ability to schedule and manage a variety of unrelated projects simultaneously with efficiency, time management, flexibility, and urgency.   
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, ability to work independently exercising initiative, good judgment and decision making skills to meet physician recruitment objectives.
  • Ability to formulate recruitment and retention goals and objectives consistent with organizational strategies.
  • Knowledge of recruitment and retention principles and theories. 
  • Ability to make decisions based on urgency of the situation in accordance with system policies. 
  • Ability to maintain extreme confidentiality of information in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Advanced proficiency with LinkedIn, and other social media recruiting techniques.
  • Advanced knowledge of healthcare processes and systems.
  • Must be detail oriented.

  • This position requires up to 35% travel to second market
  • This position requires ability to work irregular hours. 
Additional Job Description


  • Bachelor degree in business administration or equivalent experience, Master’s Degree a plus
  • Minimum of five (5) years physician recruiting experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including word, excel and PowerPoint.
